Barbara A. Leasure

Barbara was born in Zion, Illinois on October 20, 1933 and passed away in Cambridge, Minnesota on October 30, 2024. Her parents were Irvin and Esther (Jensen) Orton. Barbara was the older sister to Marcia.
Barbara grew up in Driftwood, Oklahoma and was involved in many singing and scholastic competitions. She attended college in Enid, Oklahoma and earned a registered nursing degree in 1954.
Barbara met Lewis Leasure in Enid, Oklahoma. She married Lewis in 1954 and they drove for 9 days from Oklahoma to Fairbanks, Alaska where Lewis was to be stationed at Eileson Air Force
Base. Their son Michael was born in 1955. After Lewis' honorable discharge in 1956, they moved to southern Minnesota to be near Barbara's relatives. In 1957, they welcomed daughter Jan into their family. They moved to Cambridge, MN in 1963.
When her kids were young, Barbara had a reputation for baking large pans of cinnamon and caramel rolls for them (and the kids in the neighborhood) to enjoy.
Barbara worked for 27 years at the Cambridge State Hospital and retired as the RN administrative supervisor in 1990.
After retirement, she was an active volunteer for many local groups. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Barbara was passionate about supporting organizations that promoted the
health and well-being of animals. She was active in the Cambridge United Methodist Church since 1963.
Predeceased by her parents, sister, and son Michael.
Survived by husband Lewis and daughter Jan.
Memorials preferred to any organization that promotes kindness toward animals or Isanti County Food Pantry Box 506 Cambridge MN 55008.
