Barbara Lenahan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Craig Funeral Home on Feb. 21, 2026.
Barbara Decker Lenahan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away surrounded by the love of her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A devout Catholic throughout her life, Barbara's faith was the steady foundation that guided her marriage, motherhood, friendships, and service to others.

Born and raised in Rockville Centre, New York, to Elizabeth "Betty" and Charles Decker. Barbara was the only girl of seven children, sister to Jay, Bobby, Billy, Tommy, Richard, and Chris. She treasured her summers with her family in Southampton, New York-a tradition that remained close to her heart throughout her life. She loved spending the 4th of July attending the

Southampton Village parade followed by her mother's world-famous party with the whole family. Her journey in life would take her and her growing family to many places, including Miami and Boynton Beach, Florida; Westchester, Pennsylvania; Oviedo, Florida; St. Charles, Illinois; and finally retired to St. Augustine, Florida with her loving husband Larry.

Barbara received a bachelor's degree in Nursing from Adelphi University and an MBA from Olivet Nazarene University. Barbara dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She began her career as a nurse, embodying compassion and attentiveness in every patient interaction. She later continued her service to healthcare in pharmaceutical sales and

management for Wyeth, Hospira, and Pfizer, where she built lasting relationships grounded in integrity and warmth.

Barbara was the cherished wife of Larry Lenahan and a devoted mother to Brian, Chris, and Lindsey. Her greatest joy was being "Grandma" to Declan, Callen, Brooks, Kali, Eliza, and Liam, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her life. She delighted in time spent with her grandchildren, celebrating their milestones and showering them with unwavering love

and encouragement.

Barbara was an avid traveler. She and Larry enjoyed many adventures abroad and across the United States. One of her favorite trips was a river cruise on the Rhine with her mother. She was a wine enthusiast and enjoyed her trips to Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and other local vineyards in her explorations. Other favorite trips included pilgrimages around Europe to holy

sites.

In retirement, Barbara volunteered at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre de Dios in St. Augustine, a place that reflected her deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and her commitment to serving her Church community. She enjoyed daily walks along Vilano Beach and throughout her neighborhood. She was also a vivacious reader who frequented her local public library.

Barbara will be remembered for her strength, generous spirit, steadfast faith, and the deep love she had for her family. Her energy was contagious and she fully embraced all of the joy and fun that life offered. She leaves behind a legacy of love and determination to live life to its fullest that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is predeceased by her parents Charles and Elizabeth "Betty" Decker, and brother-in-law Brian Fahey.

She is survived by her loving husband Larry and her children Brian (Megan), Chris (Missy), and Lindsey (Steven). She is also survived by her brothers Jay, Bobby, Billy (Sue), Tommy, Richard, and Chris, her brother-in-law Fran (Rosemary) and sister-in-law Mary, as well as her many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

A vigil service will be held 3:30 - 5:00 pm Monday, February 23 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche.

Followed by a visitation 6:00 - 8:30 pm at Craig Funeral Home later that evening.

A funeral mass will be held 9 am Tuesday, February 24 at the Cathedral Basilica.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara would appreciate a donation on her behalf to either the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche and/or The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance - www.ocrahope.org.

May she rest in the peace of Christ she so faithfully followed throughout her life.
