With heavy hearts, we share that Barbara Louise Ley (née Garcia) peacefully departed from this world on April 12, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice Truman House, surrounded by love and care.
Barb was born on July 24, 1948, in Canton, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Marion Garcia. She is the beloved eldest sibling to surviving siblings, Rosemarie Russo and Diana Paumier, and Richard Garcia, who also preceded her in death.
Barb dedicated her career to commercial lighting, leaving a lasting legacy upon retiring from Jack Duffy & Associates.
In 2002, she married the love of her life, John Ley, who tenderly stood by her side through every moment of her illness, attending to her every need and desire with unending devotion.
Barb leaves behind a loving family: her children, Patricia Pequignot, Paula (Heath) Downin, and stepdaughter, Stacy Warden; her grandchildren, Megan (Mike) McKenzie, Taylor (Sam) Woods, Dylan (Kristen) Frim, Logan (Emily) Sauser, and Gracie Warden; and her four great-grandchildren, Jett, Austin, Elle and Maddie, all of whom were cherished parts of her life.
Together, Barb and John committed themselves to The American Legion, where Barb found joy in catering events, honoring the fallen by setting American flags at gravesites, and cultivating genuine friendships that enriched her life.
Barb's fiery spirit and remarkable talent for gambling will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Honoring Barb's wishes, there will be a private ceremony and will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. A celebration of her vibrant life will take place on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, from 1 pm to 4 pm at The American Legion Post #44 in Canton.
Donations can be made in Barb's name to Ohio's Hospice at 716 Commercial Ave., S.W. New Philadelphia, OH 44663, ensuring her legacy of compassion and care continues.
