Barbara Lieberstein Obituary

Barbara Ellen (Dobson) Lieberstein
Born: February 8, 1937
Died: August 25, 2025
Barbara Ellen Lieberstein, affectionately known as "Grandma Bubbles," passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 8, 1937, in Chicago to the late Charles and Muriel Dobson, Barbara was a lifelong resident of Lockport, where she built a life full of love, family, and laughter.
Barbara was the devoted wife of the late Ronald Lieberstein, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. Together they raised five children who were her greatest pride: Richard (Jill) Lieberstein, Dean (Thatsarin) Lieberstein, Terri (Terrence) Gibes, Ronald "Butch" (Irene) Lieberstein, and Susan (Robert) Tripicchio. She was a beloved grandmother to 18 grandchildren, including her late granddaughter Tarah Lieberstein, and a joyful great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren, including her late great-granddaughter Lana Gibes.
She is also survived by her sisters Janet Meisner, Lois Mack, and Carol Pawlicki Scopa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her sisters Evelyn Kaczmar and Doris McDonald.
For many years, Barbara worked at a local bakery, a perfect fit for her sweet nature. Her home was always filled with cookies, cakes, and candies - treats she delighted in sharing with her grandchildren, who could always count on Grandma to have something delicious waiting for them.
Known for her playful spirit, Barbara earned her nickname "Grandma Bubbles" from her great-grandchildren, who loved her habit of blowing gum bubbles to make them laugh. She was truly the life of every gathering - bringing fun, laughter, and kindness wherever she went.
Barbara was also a woman of strong faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and she spent over 50 years as part of the Lockport congregation. She found great comfort and community in her beliefs.
She will be remembered for her boundless love, her joyful humor, and the way she made every person feel special. Her legacy of laughter, faith, and sweetness will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
