Barbara Lindke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home - Adrian on Feb. 23, 2026.
Barbara Lindke May 14, 1947 - February 20, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Barbara Lindke (78), who passed away peacefully after a long battle of health issues on February 20th, 2026. It was with her husband of 60 years, Hal Lindke by her side, that she was able to let her spirit be free.

Barbara was born on May 14th, 1947 in Cass City, Michigan to Elizabeth and Leroy Lawson. She grew up in Snover, Michigan and later made her home in Shelby Township, Michigan. She was known for her sense of humor and playful personality in all stages of life.

She leaves behind husband Hal Lindke and their daughters Shannon (Eric) Roggenbuck and Nowell (partner Jake Kapp) Balhorn. Their family has flourished over the years to include grand-children Ashley (Robby) DeFrain, Samantha (Chris) Wolfe, Kendra (fiancé Ryan Sanok) Balhorn, Jesse (Emily) Roggenbuck, and Aleisha (partner Kyle Sporman) Balhorn with an addition of great-grandchildren to include Talen DeFrain, Ryker DeFrain, Elianna Wolfe, Jax Wolfe, Reighna DeFrain, Ava Wolfe, and unborn baby Roggenbuck; as well as sister Jeanette Rooney and sister-in-law Judy Lawson, brother in law Pat (Cheryl) Lindke and Mike (Kim) Lindke. Further leaving many other loving family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close. She was preceded in death by her siblings Ruth Ann Hurley and Donald Lawson as well as parents Elizabeth and Leroy Lawson and mother and father in law, Merle and Eldie Lindke.

Although Barbara enjoyed spending time in her garden, canning, sewing, scrapbooking, camping, reading, going for walks, playing cards, and trying her luck at the casino; it was with her friends and family that she found true happiness. Whether it was hosting and gathering during holidays, sharing stories, offering wisdom, or simply being present, her greatest joy came from being surrounded by the people she loved most. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her infectious smile and laugh as well as her young-at-heart disposition. Whether she was visiting with friends and neighbors or stopping to chat with a stranger, she was always a highlight of someone's day.

Her legacy of love, family, and togetherness will live on through the generations she so deeply adored.

Per Barbara's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. However, an intimate memorial will be held with immediate family. Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home. www.PurseFuneralHome.com
