Barbara Lombardi Obituary

Barbara Lombardi
04/15/2025
Barbara Lombardi (1932-2025), beloved wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, knew how to throw, and enjoy, the best parties. She was an enthusiastic cook, and an impossibly stylish hostess, once famously donning not one, but two separate outfits over the course of a Christmas celebration because-she could! She had an amazing eye for beauty, in all its forms, and lovingly cared for her awe-worthy rose garden, the family vineyard, and her 13 (!) dogs (always a poodle and a retriever). With her husband of 59 years, Steve Lombardi, who passed away in 2014, Barbara made homemade pasta, ravioli, bread, and innumerable other Italian delicacies in the heart of their home, their culinary kitchen. Together, Barbara and Steve shared a life of love, family, friends, work (Lombardi Sports), and travel. Barbara and Steve were avid sports fans, holding 49er season tickets from their first game at Kezar Stadium, to attending all five Super Bowl wins. Both San Francisco natives, they first met at St. Vincent de Paul grammar school. They married in 1955 and moved to Mill Valley in 1965, which they loved from their first moments to their last. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Joe and Edith Damonte, and sister, Bernice Malino. She is survived by her three children Steve Jr.(Bette), Denise(Clay), Ken(Jeanne), seven grandchildren Rita(Alex), Audrey(Wes), Steve, Grace, Lauren, Cole, Daniel, and three great-grandchildren Lucia, Naia, August. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Redwoods Scholarship Fund, to which Barbara lovingly donated her time and financial support. The fund provides college scholarships to local high school students. Checks can be mailed to The Redwoods Scholarship Fund c/o Helen B Hempel, In Honor of Barbara Lombardi, 40 Camino Alto Apt 13203 Mill Valley, CA 94941. A private funeral mass in Barbara's honor was celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mill Valley.

We were so saddened to hear of the loss of your dear Mom and grandmother. What an amazing life she had. She was such a classy lady, and very loving and gracious to all who were fortunate to have known her. We have known your Mom and Dad for over 50 years and have been lucky to be able to celebrate many special occasions throughout the years with your family. Most memorable was celebrating your Mom's 85th birthday at your family vineyard with my Mom. Such a wonderful day. May you keep all of your amazing memories of her close to your heart. She will be truly missed, but left a wonderful legacy. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. With our sincerest sympathy and love, Gary and Cheryl Barrango
