Born in Dalton on April 22, 1946, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph "JV" Victor Hensley and Edith Key. She dedicated her career as a lab technician to Shaw Industries, where she was known for her diligence and professionalism. Outside of work, Barbara found joy in tending to flowers and gardens, nurturing beauty wherever she went.
Above all, Barbara was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her warmth, strength, and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Lumpkin; daughter, Vicki Hester Lumpkin; sister, Donna Brown; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton Gene Lumpkin; her parents; her son, Allen Scott Lumpkin; and her sister, Brenda Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home, with Reverend Matthew Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Barbara will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of nature, and the unwavering care she gave to her family. Her legacy blooms in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
