Barbara Joyce Martin, aged 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, cherished moments, she will be remembered warmly by all who were fortunate to know her.
Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandma, and friend. For over 40 years, she found a home in South Jefferson Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord and dedication to her church family shone brightly. An avid homemaker, Joyce took great pleasure in painting, decorating, and ensuring her house and yard were welcoming. Her true joy, however, radiated from the time spent with family and friends. Laughter and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Born on May 24, 1944, in Somerset, Kentucky, Barbara was the daughter of Homer and Mildred (Smiley) Mounce. She is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband Edward Martin, her parents, and her brother, James Mounce.
Joyce's legacy continues through her loving family: her sons Gregory Martin and Eddie (Alicia) Martin, her daughter Joy (Rev. Tom) Cox, alongside her treasured grandchildren Jonathan (Leah) Martin, Elizabeth (Jack) Sheppard, Thomas (Laura) Cox, Jessica (Caleb) Sedlak, and Lauren Cox. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Tommy and Isabella Cox, and her siblings, Earl Mounce and Thurston (Jan) Mounce. Each of them holds precious memories that will forever keep her spirit alive in their hearts.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM, with burial at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
