Crystal Falls - Barbara J. Martiny, 89, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.
She was born May 16, 1935, in Alpha, Mich., daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Wiatrowski) Kocinski.
Barbara grew up in Alpha and was a graduate of Alpha High School, class of 1953. Following graduation, she moved to Chicago, where she worked for many years in the banking industry. On April 30, 1960, Barbara was united in marriage to George Martiny. He preceded her in death in 1994. After George's passing, Barbara moved back to Crystal Falls.
She enjoyed reading and spending time with her cats and watching her wildlife.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert John Otto, Sr.; sister-in-law, Collette Kochinski; and many nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband George, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen (John) Ozoga, Mary (John) Ballo, Rose Otto, and Margaret (Chester) Turcott; and brothers, Michael (Francis) Kocinski, Ben "Sonny" (Patsy) Kocinski, Albert Kocinski, and John Kocinski.
In accordance with Barbara's wishes, no formal services will be held.
The family would like to thank good friends and caretakers, Kathy and Terry Wheeler.
In lieu of flowers the family request that monetary donations be sent to – John Ballo, 521 Millersville Avenue, Howards Grove, Wisconsin 53083.
