Barbara Mashanic Obituary
Age 89, of Elmira Heights, NY was born April 23, 1936 in Montour Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Marcus and Maurine (Thorp) McCarty. Barb passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026. Her son, Bruce Alan Mashanic, brother, Gary Thorp McCarty and loving husband of 64 years, George "Bud" Mashanic III also preceded her in death. Loving survivors that are left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Edward Kreisler with their children: Daniel (Karen) Kreisler, Craig (Angela) Kreisler with their son, Jack Kreisler; son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Elisha Mashanic with their children: Bryce Mashanic and Chase Mashanic; Matthew Mashanic and Joe Mashanic; beloved siblings: sisters, Janet Brown, and Linda Lanning; brother, Miles McCarty; along with several nieces and nephews. In 1954, Barb graduated from the Odessa – Montour High School. For 36 years Barb was employed by Chemung County Data Processing. She was also the secretary/treasure for CSEA retirement. Barb loved traveling to see her sister in Arizonia and also traveling to Las Vegas for the sights, shows, food and of course the casinos. Family and friends are invited to join a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Manzari's Bar and Grill 105 East Miller Street Elmira, NY 14904 for Barb and Bud Mashanic.
