Barbara McBroom, age 78, was born on November 17, 1947, to Herbert and Betty Jo Methina, and passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025.
One of four children blessed to her parents, Barbara was a wonderful daughter and sister, whose caring spirit was evident from a young age. As her life unfolded, she became a devoted mother and grandmother, roles she cherished deeply. Barbara spent her life taking care of others in every way imaginable, even down to the smallest detail. Always placing the needs of those she loved before her own.
She was known for her friendly, down-to-earth nature and her warm, funny personality that could bring comfort and laughter to any room. Barbara worked faithfully at Penny Pantry and Magnolia Creek Nursing Home, where her heart for service and compassion for others shone through. She was especially devoted to caring for her son and her brother until their passing, offering love, strength, and unwavering dedication.
Within her family, Barbara was affectionately known as "Aunt Hot" and "Grandma Hot," a nickname earned simply because she was always "hot" and could often be found fanning herself, a detail that still brings smiles to those who loved her. She loved to dance from her youth until her health no longer allowed and had a deep love for music, especially Elvis Presley, whom she adored wholeheartedly.
Barbara enjoyed relaxing with her favorite television shows, including Friends and Gunsmoke. Though she would jokingly say Gunsmoke was only because it was the one channel that came in. She was a faithful Channel 5 viewer, where all her favorites could be found. You could always count on Barbara to have her hair perfectly curled and her nails painted pink, as she loved everything about pink.
Strong-willed and confident, Barbara always knew exactly what she wanted and never hesitated to let you know where she stood. Her family was her entire world, and she made certain they always knew how deeply they were loved. Whether someone needed a hug, a shoulder to lean on, honest advice, or simply a good laugh, Barbara could always be counted on.
Even during her time of sickness, her love never failed. Her faith in God remained steadfast, and she spoke often of longing for Heaven's gates and the loving arms of her Savior. Barbara's memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends and will never be forgotten.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Wayne McBroom, one son; Troy Wade Atkins, one daughter; Paula Jo Ables, and two brothers; Terry & Randall Methina.
She is survived by her three grandchildren; Pamela (Kaleb) Ellison, Jason (Morgan) Prater, & Kristy (Randy) Tucker, five great-grandchildren; Glory Ellison, Bradley Tucker, Emily Tucker, Myles Tucker, and Annie Tucker, one sister; Patricia Cromwell, and a host of other family and friends.
