Barbara S. McCombs, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 83.
Barbara was a member of an esteemed secretarial association for many years, as well as a former member of the Crestview Garden Club. She was an avid Alabama football fan and loved the Crimson Tide. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she always made it special for Deanna and Butch when they were young. As she got older, she enjoyed the animated plush animals that sang and danced and always had those displayed in her home. Barbara loved her family. She worked besides the love of her life, Larry, for many years at Mobile Trail Service, a business they owned and operated. They were together 24/7/365 and managed not to kill each other. Their home was loving and genuine. Larry has been her constant caregiver for many years when memory problems started to appear after her pacemaker surgery. He did a great job with that difficult task and always took great care of her.
Barbara was an active member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and Lakeside Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL, in her younger days while in Birmingham. Her favorite Bible verses were Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path" and Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, William Talmedge Simonton and Harriet Lowery Simonton, one brother, William Talmedge Simonton, Jr. and her stepson, Keith Lawrence McCombs.
