Barbara McKone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Durand Chapel on Jan. 15, 2024.
Barbara McKone, a pillar of love and friendship, passed away peacefully at her home in Corunna on January 10, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on April 1, 1958, in Polk, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of the late Martin and Maria (Andrada) Perez. Barbara's life was a tapestry of close-knit family ties, enduring friendships, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Barbara's journey began as a bright-eyed girl in Stamford, Texas, where she was raised alongside her loving siblings. She attended local schools and after graduating high school, she furthered her education by taking business classes at Baker College. Her academic pursuits laid a strong foundation for her future career. Barbara's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work; she was a valued employee at Fisher Body until its closure and later retired from Magnatek in Owosso.
On July 28, 1989, Barbara's heart found its match in Tim McKone, and together they embarked on a life filled with love and shared adventures until his passing. She was blessed with a beloved daughter, Jessica (Jason) Chrysler, who further enriched Barbara's world with the gift of granddaughters, Alexis and Joslyn Chrysler, and a great-granddaughter, EverLeigh. Barbara's role as a mother and grandmother was one, she embraced with every fiber of her being, her family truly was everything to her.
Barbara's siblings, David (Debbie) Perez, Martin Jr. (Dawn) Perez, Phillip Perez, and Donna Perez, remember her as a source of unwavering support and joy. Her presence was a comforting constant in their lives, and her absence will be deeply felt. Though Barbara has joined her late parents and husband in eternal rest, the legacy of her warmth and kindness lives on through her family.
Those who knew Barbara will recall her love for board games, which brought laughter and competitive spirit to many family gatherings and friendly get-togethers. Her green thumb was evident in the vibrant gardens she tended with care, and her flowers were a testament to her nurturing spirit. In her younger years, Barbara found solace in the tranquility of fishing and the adventure of being outdoors. Camping trips were cherished escapes that allowed her to bask in the beauty of nature.
A true friend, Barbara cherished the company of her girlfriends. Their annual weeklong trips were highlights of her year, filled with stories and memories that will be treasured forever. She loved to sit in the shade outside, often reflecting on the beauty of life and the joy of simple pleasures.
Barbara's life was a reflection of the words that best describe her: loving and friendly. Her radiant smile and open heart made her a friend to many, and her caring nature drew people to her. She had the rare ability to make everyone feel like family, and her home was a haven of warmth and welcome.
As we bid farewell to Barbara, we celebrate a life lived with abundant love and kindness. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will continue to light the way for all who loved her.
