McKone, Richard "Rick" Scott of Flushing, age 62, died Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. A memorial gathering will be held 1-7 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Flushing Masonic Lodge. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on October 9, 1963, the son of Richard and JoAnn (Clark) McKone. He was a graduate of Flushing High School, Class of 1982. He was a handyman who made his living by doing plumbing, heating and electrical work. Rick lived and worked in Las Vegas for over 10 years. He enjoyed spending time outside, whether it was camping, kayaking, catching the sunrise and sunsets, gardening, or searching for Petoskey stones. Rick loved to travel and collect crystals. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Rick is survived by his children, Katrina (Rocky) McKone, Amanda (Jason) McKone, Shayn (Madison) McKone; significant other, Dru Steen; their daughters, Jade McKone and Jewel McKone; grandchildren, Jonathan, McKenzie, Savannah, Unique, Marcus, Alayna, Kayden; great-grandchildren, Ophelia, Brynleigh; brother, David (Wendy) McKone; sister, Michelle Bensch; best friend, Kevin Eller; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins; and his beloved dog and cat Taz and Percy. He was preceded in death by his parents; dear friend, Mary Selleck; and brother-in-law, Bruce Bensch.
