Barbara McNiel

Barbara McNiel passed away to her heavenly home on September 4, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born to Joseph and Louise Troxler in Raceland, Louisiana on August 4, 1938. Barbara was the loving wife of Norman McNiel, and mother of Chuck Berthelot, both of whom preceded her in death. Barbara earned a bachelor's degree from Nicholl's State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and a law degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. Her many careers included selling real estate on Alabama's gulf coast and owning a dress shop in Pensacola. Barbara and Norman were devoted members of the Catholic Church. She had a special fondness for her priest at St Margaret's Catholic Church in Foley Alabama, the Very Reverend Paul G. Zoghby.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by Stan and Susan McNiel, their son Anthony and Kelli Rossi, children Tucker and Camille; grandchildren Cooper, Tucker and Camille; Sandi and Doug Banister, their children Bryden and Zane Groethe, Hunter and Nashley Banister, Sajen and Lucas Jones, and Ashten and Ben Falter; Sharon and Joe Key, their children, Krissy and Tim Brady, Joseph Key, Alisa and Erik Simmons and children Korbin and Kaia, Jonathan Key; Sheila and Deron Johnson, children Jake and Brooke Johnson and son Anderson, Dillon and Sara Johnson, children, Cameron, Luke, Abigail and Sadie; Kyle and Heather Johnson, Reece and Kat Johnson, Katie Johnson, Jared Johnson and Ella-Scarlett Johnson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 7th at Rose Funeral & Cremation – Mann 6200 Kingston Pike Knoxville, TN 37919.
