Barbara Jean Miller, a resident of Mesquite, Texas, was called home to be with our Lord on October 16, 2025, at the age of 73. She was born on December 2, 1951, to her loving parents, Ralph and Annabelle Miller, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Barbara moved to Los Angeles at a young age and received her early education in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Barbara attended Sawyer Business College and earned her secretarial degree in June 1976. Barbara moved to McKinney, Texas, in 1992 and continued her post-secondary studies, ultimately receiving an RDN certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Barbara began her career with North Texas Job Corps in McKinney, and after several years of serving and training culinary students, she retired in June 2001.
Barbara met the love of her life, Alton Moffett, while living in Los Angeles, California. Barbara and Alton celebrated their love and lifelong commitment to each other in a marriage ceremony on May 9th, 1970, in Pasadena, California. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and love.
Barbara lived a beautiful life of service, faith, and love. Above all things, her greatest joy was found in time spent with her family. Barbara loved fishing, cooking, tending to her vegetable garden, and hosting elaborate family get-togethers. She touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, prayer, and unwavering love.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton Moffett; parents, Annabelle and Ralph Miller; brother, Michael Miller; and sisters, Teresa Miller and Pamela Miller.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include her sons, Antonio White, Delwin White, and Alton Moffett Jr.; daughter, Artavia Moffett-Maxwell (Bryan); daughter-in-love, Tanisha White; grandsons, Antonio White Jr., Aaron White, Kylen Watkins, and Alton Moffett III; granddaughters, Lashanae Wallace, Daijah Williams, Tierra Maxwell, Daijahne White, Khadijah White, Jasmine White, and Sanaa Moffett; great-grandchildren, Harper Hayes, Layna Wallace, Imani Parker, and Trey Moffett; sisters, Vicky, Joyce, Cheryl, Rhonda, Brenda, and Lessie; brother, Curtis; and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her and cherish her memory.
Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering faith, joyful spirit, and the love she poured into her family and friends. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
