Barbara Monahan Obituary

Barbara Monahan passed away peacefully, with her sons by her side at their home, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the age of 70.

A devoted lover of nature, Barb found joy in the great outdoors, where she reveled in all things active, whether it was hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing, traveling, or simply soaking in the beauty of her surroundings. Her appreciation for music resonated deeply within her soul; she expressed her artistic spirit through the piano and harp. Barb was also a gifted artisan, channeling her creativity into the beautiful stained-glass pieces she crafted.

Barb was an avid gardener, a volunteer with HCO, a participant in many activities at the YMCA, and was an active member of the Winona arts scene.

She was a pillar of support for many seeking sobriety, proudly celebrating 36 years of sobriety herself. As a sponsor, she guided countless individuals on their journey to recovery.

Above all, Barb was devoted to her family, cherishing every moment spent with "her boys," who were the center of her universe. Her last years with them were filled with plenty of smiles, laughs and moments the two of them will remember and cherish for the rest of their lives.

Barb is survived by “her boys”, Travis and Tyler; and sisters, Patricia Sime and Mary (Tom) Garrity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sally, and brother, Greg Becker.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center (3480 Service Dr. Winona, MN) with visitation beginning at 11am.

Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
