Barbara Jean Long Monroe, 76, of Sherwood, AR earned her heavenly wings on October 29, 2023. She was born in Logansport, Indiana on Valentine’s Day 1947 to Campbell and Betty Carpenter Long. Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents and sister Beverly.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, 11 months, and 14 days, Ducarrol (Duke), their children, Marc of Sherwood, Lynn (Melissa) of Bella Vista, and Lauren (Chris) Lynch of El Dorado; siblings Campbell (Sue) Long, Brenda (Dave) Pinner,
John (Alisa) Long; grandchildren Britnee and Jacob Lynch, Zach and Colby Monroe and a host of nieces
and nephews.
The family moved to Temple, Ok in 1952. She was a percussionist and majorette in the Temple Marching Band. Barbara graduated as Co-Salutatorian from Temple Oklahoma High School, received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Ozarks, and graduated from Baptist Medical Center School of Medical Technology. She was a certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Barbara had worked at Baptist Health Little Rock, Rebsamen Hospital-Jacksonville, Little Rock SVI Family Clinic, and Redfield Labs.
Her favorite hobbies included camping, all forms of sewing, reading, and doting on her grandchildren. Prior to COVID, she and Duke camped frequently with the Whispering Pines Good Sams Chapter. Her favorite places to camp included Petit Jean State Park, White River-Bull Shoals State Park, and Maumelle Park.
Visitation is November 19 th from 2:00-3:00pm at 1 st Presbyterian Church Jacksonville with a Memorial
service at 3:00.
