Mrs. Barbara Honeycutt Starnes Mullis, 79, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, at her home in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. George Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:45 pm Tuesday at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mullis was born February 4, 1947 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Albert Honeycutt and Melvia Jean Kinley. She was a faithful member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, where her late husband, Rev. Marler Clay Starnes, served as pastor for many years. She also worked for Cannon Mills in the packaging department.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Cameron Reid.
Mrs. Mullis is survived by her husband, William Haskell Mullis; daughter, Sherry Starnes Reid and husband Mark; two brothers, Larry Honeycutt and wife Collette and Rick Avery and wife Gail; sister, Brenda Haigler Purvis; two grandchildren, Justin Reid and wife Kristy and Matt Reid and wife Brittany; one great grandchild, Callie Reid; and nieces and nephews she was very close to that were like grandchildren to her.
Memorials may be sent to Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, 509 West 22nd Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
