Lonia Mae Shue Mullis "Peg", a lifelong resident of Cabarrus County and a devoted member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026. Born on October 15, 1934, Peggy’s life was a testament to faith, family, and community.
Peg was baptized at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in 1935 and remained an active and cherished member throughout her life. Her commitment to her church was unwavering; she sang in the choir for many years, contributed generously to Bible schools, participated in Christmas programs, and assisted with the church’s annual turkey suppers. Her dedication to her faith community was a cornerstone of her life and brought joy and comfort to her and many others.
On February 21, 1954, Peg wed Ned Mullis. Together, they built a loving family and a life grounded in mutual respect and affection. She was preceded in death by her husband Ned Mullis, daughter Teresa Eudy, son Randy Mullis, as well as her parents, Adam Monroe Shue and Cora Freeman Shue.
Peg is survived by her daughters Debbie Mullis and Angie Mullis; her brothers Reid Shue and Ray Shue; and her sisters Myrtle Love and Mary Miller. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of kindness and devotion.
A visitation will be held on March 29, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, located at 9400 Gold Hill Rd, Mount Pleasant, North Carolina 28124. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM.
Peg's life was marked by steadfast faith, deep familial bonds, and a profound commitment to her community. Her enduring spirit and the memories she has left with all who knew her will continue to inspire and comfort those she touched throughout her 91 years.
