Barbara Alice Sanders Murphree, passed away surrounded by her by family in a Waco retirement center on November 21, 2023. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Barbara Alice Sanders born July 30, 1938 to Oscar and Dorothy Sanders in Valley Mills, Texas. She was raised in a family of 17 kids and she was the baby. Barbara graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1956.
She was married to Robert Clemons from 1956 to 1980. They had 2 children Steven Clemons and Christina Turner. Barbara moved back to Valley Mills from Plano, Texas, in 1977. She worked for Plano I.S.D and Valley Mills I.S.D. for 58 years before retiring.
She married Doyle Murphree in 1981. He preceded her in death in 1997. Doyle had 3 children: Donna and Andy Pedigo; Debbie Hall; Mike and Anna Murphree. Barbara loved reading and visiting with all her friends. She loved her home town (Valley Mills) and school classmates.
This obituary was written by Barbara herself 3 weeks ago. For weeks she had talked about going to Heaven where she knew she would be able to see again. Barbara now has regained her eyesight.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Tanner, Jason Clemons, Chance Shilling, Steven Hicks, Joey McKain, and Bobby Hamill. Honorary Pallbearer: Billy Reed Powers.
