Wayne Douglas Wells was born on May 31, 1935 in Valley Mills, Texas, and passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Wesley Woods Rehabilitation and Care Center. A service to celebrate his life will be Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 12:30pm at Waco Memorial Funeral Home.
Wayne was the son of Bill and Anne Wells and spent his life in Valley Mills and various communities throughout the Waco area. On June 28, 1975, he married Joyce Wells, with whom he shared many years of life and love.
Wayne enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing music - especially the steel guitar - and could often be found fishing, hunting, or riding his bike. A hardworking man, Wayne retired after 35 years of service with General Tire. Following his retirement, he continued working for an additional 15 years in maintenance with Midway School District,
Wayne was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Wells; his son, Randy Broughton and wife Rhonda; his two granddaughters, Micah Broughton and Mandy Perez and her husband, Chris; his great-grandson, Zane Perez; and brother-in-law, Larry Schlemmer and wife, Debbie.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Aspen Hospice team and the staff of Wesley Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care, comfort, and kindness shown to Wayne, especially during his final days.
