Barbara Ognavic, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, April 13, 2023, at her home, surrounded by family.
Born September 14, 1929, in Sheboygan, Barbara was a daughter of the late Bernard and Della Sweeney Housey. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1948. On November 27, 1948, Barbara was united in marriage to Peter John Ognavic in Sheboygan. They were married for 69 years before Peter preceded her in death on January 8, 2018.
Barbara was a nurses assistant at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. She was a foster grandparent at Sheridan School. Barbara was a member of the Sheboygan South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Steve (Francine) Ognacevic, New Mexico, and Daniel Ognavic, Sheboygan; daughters, Bonnie (Tom) Roerdink, Cascade, Peggy (Lisa) Ognacevic-Engels, Algonquin, IL, Sally (Scott) Burch, Sheboygan, and Wendy Radtke, Janesville; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great Grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Peter, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Lawrence (Elaine), Edward (Mary), Leroy, and James; and her sister, Frances (Francis).
According to her wishes, there will be no services or visitation.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support and a big thank you to the volunteer sisters from the Sheboygan South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Barbara's arrangements.
