Barbara Buslach Olson

Barbara Buslach Olson August 5, 1926 ~ May 27, 2023 Barbara Buslach Olson died peacefully at home on May 27, 2023. She was born in Camas, Washington on August 5, 1926, to Mason Buslach and Clara Krohn Buslach. She grew up in the Cape Horn area of Skamania County and attended the Cape Horn School and Washougal High School. The family moved to Vancouver during her senior year, and she graduated from Vancouver High School in 1945. In 1952, she married Hugo Olson, and they were married over 51 years when he passed away in 2003.

Barbara was a teacher's aide at Lieser Elementary School from 1969 until she retired in 1986. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was the "small but mighty" matriarch of our family. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, birdwatching, antique hunting, and above all, spending time with her family, especially at the family beach house in Ocean Park.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Gregory Olson of Vancouver, Douglas Olson (Lisa) of Battle Ground, and her daughter, Pamela Olson of Vancouver, as well as 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo Olson, infant son, Jeffrey Olson, and son, John Olson.

At her request, there will be a gathering of family and friends instead of a funeral service, on Saturday, July 15 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., in the Hospitality Room at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 N.E. 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684. There will be a private interment at Park Hill Cemetery.
