Barbara Ruth Opp

Barbara Ruth Opp, age 76, of rural Baltic, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at her home. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery near Sioux Falls.

Barb was born on December 24, 1948, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Fred and Leona (Pesicka) Brown. She grew up in Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1967 and then attended beautician school. Barb married Terry Opp on March 24, 1972. They settled in Sioux Falls and then moved to an acreage near the city in 1973. In 1993, they moved to their current acreage near Baltic. Terry passed away on May 4, 2021.

Barb was a member of Benton Lutheran Church near Crooks. She enjoyed boarding horses at her home, fishing, antiquing, going to auctions, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters: Stefanie Opp, of Howard, and Tracie (Tony Inglis), of Garretson; grandchildren: Kennedy (Huse) Ibrisevic, Ross Jellis, Zoey Inglis, and Patty Niffenegger; great grandchildren: Melina, Jovani, Leilani, and Emilio Ibrisevic; siblings: Michael (Kathleen) Brown, Patrick (Adele) Brown, and Sheri (Denny) Will; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Terry.
