Barbara Pierce Obituary
Barbara L. (nee Olsen) Pierce, 81, of Johnsburg, IL passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side. She was born in Berwyn, IL to Vernon and Frances (nee Vesely) Olsen. She got married to John (Jack) Pierce in 1962. After raising her 4 children Barb worked as a secretary for various companies in the area. She found her real passion in helping others. Barb, was in charge of the senior group "Keen Agers" at the St. John's the Baptist church. She was a volunteer then director of FISH of McHenry Food Pantry for over 20 years. She received a Woman of the Year award in 1995 by McHenry women in action. After retiring she enjoyed her grandchildren, biking, cooking and baking and just keeping busy. Later Barb enjoyed sitting on the front porch talking with friends and neighbors, always lending an ear and giving lots of hugs. Her bubbly personality will be missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Jack, daughter; Jean (Tim) Slattery, son; John (Teri) Pierce, daughter; Joan (Jack) Fulcher, son; Joseph Pierce, 4 grandchildren; Josie, Daniel, Ariel and Joseph.
In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to FISH of McHenry food pantry www.fishofmchenry.org or 815-344-4717.
Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 am Thursday August 17, 2023 St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg, IL 815-385-1477.
