Barbara J. Poole

Barbara Jewell Poole, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Leland, North Carolina, at the age of 76. Born on October 17, 1949, in Harnett County, NC, she lived a life filled with love, family, and dedication.

Barbara embarked on her professional journey working at the Cape Fear DuPont plant in Leland, before she found her true calling as a long-distance truck driver, a career she passionately pursued until her retirement. Her work took her across the country, where she embraced the open road with determination and independence.

At home, Barbara was a talented crocheter, creating beautiful items for her family and friends, a testament to her loving and generous spirit. She found great joy and solace in this activity, crafting each piece with care and skill.

Barbara was a woman of faith, attending services and finding community within the Baptist tradition. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, offering her strength and guidance throughout her years.

Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Melvin Washington Poole and Edna Jewell Page Poole, and her cherished son, Jimmy Poole, Barbara is survived by her two devoted daughters, Ethel Rose Pugh of Leland, NC, and Belinda Jewell McNeill of Bailey, NC. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward. Her sister, Nancy Carolyn Ward of Leland, and her brother, Nelson Poole, along with extended family members, also mourn her passing.

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara's life is being planned at the Flat Woods Baptist Church in Lillington, NC. In accordance with her wishes, her urn will be placed with family at the Harnett County Cemetery in Lillington, NC, ensuring she remains close to her roots and loved ones.

Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her warmth, love, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
