Barbara May (Poston) Bollig passed away in Chanute, Kansas on Sunday April 27, 2025, at the age of 88.
She was born on April 7, 1937, in Iola, Kansas the daughter of Edward and Inez (Archer) Wiggins.
Barbara dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Fredonia Regional Hospital, where her kind and compassionate nature touched the lives of countless patients and their families.
Barbara was a graduate of Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri, Class of 1955. Furthering her education, she attended Neosho County Community College, where she enhanced skills that would serve her throughout a more than 30-year nursing career.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barbara was a woman of many interests and talents. She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, and sewing. Her frugal nature and resourcefulness shone through in her passion for thrifting, garage gales and couponing. Barbara enjoyed word puzzles and had a joyous spirit for Jesus that would often lead her to play the piano and sing.
On August 28, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to Dorrell D. Poston, in Kansas City, Missouri and, after 43 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on March 7, 1998. Their shared love for Jesus and leading others to Christ lived at the center of their life and work as church pastors, while a passion for travel took them motorcycling across the country. Barbara later married Anthony Bollig of Chanute, Kansas in January of 2003 and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2010.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kayla Holloway and husband Derrin; her son, Kevin Poston and his wife Pam; as well as ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Inez (Archer) Wiggins; her sister Marvelle McCray; two brothers, Delbert and Lyle Wiggins; her infant son, Kyle Poston; and husbands, Dorrell Poston and Anthony Bollig.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Wickham Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fredonia, Kansas. Barbara will be laid to rest at Coyville Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
