BARBARA LOUISE PRUITT
November 20, 1932 ˜ May 22, 2023
Barbara Pruitt, 90, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on May 22, 2023. Barbara is survived by her sister, Marilyn Kelley; children, Chris (Judy) Pruitt, Mark (Janice) Pruitt, Lorrie (Frank) Donahue, and Kelly (Sonja) Pruitt; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Rex Pruitt.
Barbara Louise Hale was born to William and Mayme Hale on Nov. 20, 1932, in Kelso, WA. Moving to Barberton, WA, she attended Barberton and Battle Ground schools. Later, living in Vancouver, she attended Shumway Junior High, and Vancouver High School, graduating in 1950. While attending Clark College, she studied secretarial skills and met Rex Pruitt. They married in 1952.
Barb was employed by the US Forest Service as an office administrator early in her marriage. As her family grew, she became a “stay at home mom.” By the 1970’s, Barbara worked alongside her husband in his real estate and construction businesses in Clark County.
Barb and her husband Rex, spent their golden years in Grapeview, WA, on Mason Lake, in a home they happily shared with family and friends. They moved back to Vancouver in 2019. As her health declined, Rex was a faithful caregiver to his wife of 70 years until his death in December 2022. The family is grateful for the loving care given to Barb by Ana Liguid, Sophie and Magaly, her caregivers at Felida Guest Home.
Barbara was a longtime member of Glenwood (formerly Minnehaha) Community Church, where she and her husband and children were introduced to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. She served her church family in numerous capacities, and provided gracious acts of hospitality to many.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held for Barbara and Rex (who passed in December) on July 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Community Church. 12201 NE 72nd Ave., Vancouver, WA 98686.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Glenwood Community Church missions.
