Barbara J. Pykare

GUSTAVUS-Barbara J. Pykare, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 13, 2025. She was born May 21, 1935, in Jefferson, Ohio, the daughter of Todd and Nelma (Nyland) Eakin. Mrs. Pykare was a graduate of Kinsman High School. She was employed in her early years at Packard Electric, then as the beloved secretary of Gustavus Elementary Scholl, where she retired after many years. 

Nothing meant more to Mrs. Pykare than her family. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and attending many social functions. She was also an active member of Gustavus Federate Church. 

Survivors include her sister, Greta L. Tricker; her son, Robert T. (Marcia) Pykare of Monmouth, Maine; her daughter, Sharon M. (Bill) Kenausis of Ellsworth, Maine; her son, Randy R. (Peg) Pykare of Kinsman, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Joshua, Alexandria, and Samantha; and 1 great granddaughter, Zoey.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert L. Pykare, whom she married May 14, 1955; her parents, Todd and Nelma, and her sister, Ruth McMichael.

A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley by Compassus, 979 Tibbetts Wick Road A, Girard, OH 44420.
