Barbara Rafferty, ‘Barb’, 92, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025. Born in Holton MI to Matthew and Dorothy (Rankin) Didier on December 21, 1932. She attended St Edwards Catholic School and graduated from East High School in June, 1951. On October 13, that same year, 1951, she married Robert Rafferty in Rockford, Illinois.
Barb worked at Bartelt Engineering and volunteered at St Edwards Church. Barb was known for her travels through out the country, walking, hiking, and golf.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia ‘Pat” Rafferty (Marianne Nolte); son, Michael Rafferty; and brother William A Didier and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Robert A Rafferty, sister, Rosene Mary (Hoskins/Didier) Anderson and brother, Richard J Didier
Memorial Mass for Barbara will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 3004 11th Street, Rockford, IL. 61109. A memorial visitation will be held prior from 10:00 a.m. until the time for the Mass. Immediately following the Mass there will be a procession to the Inurnment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
