Celebrating the Life of Barbara Robblee
OCT 20, 1949 – NOV 8, 2024
With profound sadness and hearts filled with cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Bobbie Robblee, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, a dedicated teacher and esteemed member of the beagle community. Barbara was born on Oct 20th, 1949 to parents George and Virginia Schierer in Youngstown, Ohio. After Barbara graduated from Arizona State University, Bobbie began her thirty year career as a teacher for Roosevelt School District, teaching the Third Grade and specializing in ESL and Gifted Education.
Bobbie married her beloved husband, Shawn, in 1972. Their journey together began with a simple compromise-she wanted a poodle, he preferred a basset hound, and they joyfully settled on a $35 beagle. This decision marked the start of a lifelong passion that would leave an indelible mark on the world of beagle breeding and showing.
Their first beagle taught them invaluable lessons about love, patience, and the quirks of the breed. Unfamiliar with crate training and the energetic nature of beagles, their early days were filled with both challenges and laughter-as evidenced by their well-chewed first sofa. Recognizing that every beagle deserves companionship, they welcomed a second beagle into their home, sparking their interest in dog shows and breeding.
Bobbie and Shawn founded Jabrwoki Beagles, dedicating themselves to the betterment of the breed. Over the years, they bred and owned champions, including specialty winners and Best in Show recipients. Their breeding philosophy emphasized consistency, quality, and a deep respect for the lineage and traits of their dogs. They believed in continuous learning, collaborating with fellow breeders, and maintaining a humble attitude-principles that garnered them admiration and respect within the community.
After the birth of their daughter, Noel, Bobbie gracefully balanced motherhood with her passion for beagles. The family limited their show appearances to about twenty per year, focusing on quality over quantity and ensuring that their home was filled with love and joy. Noel inherited her parents' love for beagles and now resides in Georgia with her husband Jason Young and their son Isaac. Noel's beagles live the life "that all beagles should" have, cherished and adored every day.
In retirement, Bobbie and Shawn embraced life on the road, traveling across the country in their motor home with their nine beagles. They visited dog shows from coast to coast, reveling in both the frustrations and triumphs that come with the sport. Their home was wherever they parked, filled with the warmth of their dogs and the friendships forged along the way.
Bobbie's legacy extends beyond her accomplishments in breeding and showing. She was a mentor, a confidante, and a pillar of strength to those who knew her. Her philosophies on life and breeding-emphasizing humility, continuous learning, and the importance of having fun-have inspired many and will continue to influence future generations. She is survived by her devoted husband Shawn, her loving daughter Noel and son-in-law Jason Young, her cherished grandson Isaac, her sisters Darlene and Georgia, her niece Shelly Gillis, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Their bond was a source of strength and joy throughout her life, filled with shared memories, laughter and unwavering support. Her beagles, each a testament to her life's work and love, remain a living legacy of her dedication.
A celebration of Bobbie's life will be held on Nov 14, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00AM at Best Funeral Services in
Peoria, Arizona. Friends, family, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join us in sharing stories, laughter, and memories as we honor a remarkable woman who lived life to the fullest.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bobbie's name to American Beagle Relief Network, supporting animal welfare and the continued betterment of the beagle breed-a cause that was so close to her heart.
Bobbie's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy. As we say goodbye, let us remember her by embracing her teachings: take care of the dogs, have fun, and never stop learning. Her spirit lives on in every wagging tail and joyful bark of the beagles she so dearly loved.
