Barbara H. Roberts

Barbara Hansel Roberts, 94, of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Freedom Village in Coatesville.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Downing Roberts, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2022.

Born in Uniontown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Payne Hansel and Sarah Springer Craig Hansel.

She was known for her love of music. In college she majored in Piano and minored in Organ. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and her Master of Music degree from West Virginia University. She was the Organist of St. James Episcopal Church in Downingtown for many years as well as being a long-time parishioner. She also gave piano lessons from home.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in the Chester County Pa and General Perry Benson MD chapters. She was a past Regent of the Chester County Chapter. She enjoyed playing bridge, jigsaw puzzles and visiting with family.

Barbara is survived by her children, Thomas Scott Roberts, John Craig Roberts (Ellen) and Sarah Ellen Roberts; her grandchildren, Craig Troisi (Meagan), Suzanne Levin (Matt) and Catherine Urick (Nick); and her great grandchildren, August Edward Troisi, Eliza and Chloe Levin and Charlotte and Michael Urick.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date at St. James Episcopal Church in Downingtown.

Interment will be private with the family.
