Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services - Mountain HomeBarbara Lizabeth Sandberg, age 75, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, peacefully departed this life on August 19, 2025. Born on September 16, 1949, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, she was the only child of Rees and Bernice Voss Damon. After graduating from high school, Barbara earned her bachelor's degree in sociology and dedicated her professional life to serving her community as an administrative assistant for Jackson County in Oregon.
On October 14, 1978, Barbara united in marriage with Kenneth Sandberg in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2014, she moved to Mountain Home from Medford, Oregon, where she continued to embrace community engagement and support. A member of the First United Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge #1714 BPOE in Mountain Home, Barbara was also a passionate advocate for education and literature, serving as president of the Friends of the Baxter County Library. Her contributions to the library and the community will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Barbara leaves behind a wide circle of friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rees and Bernice Damon, and her husband, Kenneth Wayne Sandberg.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Barbara's memory, at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel with Heather Marsalis serving as Life Celebrant. Her cremated remains will be scattered in the Scattering Gardens at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Baxter County Library or Hospice of the Ozarks.
The arrangements are entrusted to Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services of Mountain Home, Arkansas. A guestbook and online obituary are available at www.kirbyandfamily.com.
