Barbara Jean Tomney Scovel
Oct 10, 1933-Jan 22, 2024
Barbara Jean Tomney Scovel, 90 passed away Monday, January 22, 2024, in Clearfield, UT due to cardiac failure.
She was born in Ogden, UT on October 10, 1933, the sixth child to Henry Harry Tomney and Cecil Marie Redmond. She grew up in Ogden, UT where she enjoyed many friends and where she met the love of her life.
She married Oliver Scovel, Jr. on August 11, 1950, in Ogden, Utah. Soon after the wedding, they were separated due to Oliver's service in Tokyo Japan during the Korean War. After the war, there was nothing that would keep them apart. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple, where their family was sealed together. They genuinely loved each other for the rest of their lives together. Barbara and Oliver enjoyed 68 years of marriage, before Oliver passing on August 12, 2018.
Barbara was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and magnified all the callings extended to her.
She was a true disciple of Christ and cared for all those around her, even up to her last days. She will be missed by many friends and neighbors.
Barbara loved her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always shared her love with her family and made her home a gathering place for all. She was a fabulous cook and her extraordinary talents brought joy and happiness to so many.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Robert (Jill) Scovel, Dani (Kim) Watson, Mark (JoAnn) Scovel, Matt (Jennifer) Scovel. She has twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Chancellor Gardens and the kind care provided by her hospice team.
