Barbara Jean Sheese

Barbara Jean "Jeanie" (Herrington) Sheese, age 83, formerly of Freedom, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Mill Pond Nursing and Rehab Center in Greencastle, Indiana. She was born near Arney in Owen County Indiana on March 11, 1941, the youngest daughter of Jess and Julia (Keller) Herrington. Jeanie was a graduate of Coal City High School and worked for many years as a cook at the small restaurant adjacent to A.Z. West''s grocery store in Freedom. She was famous for her cooking and especially her homemade pies.
Jeanie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ermil Sheese; children, Jeff Mattox, David Mattox, Linda Hamilton, Danny Mattox, and Kim Wright; brother, Jerry Herrington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Merva Rice, Everett Herrington, Richard (Dick) Herrington, Irene Truax, Jim Herrington, Robert (Bob) Herrington, Charlie Herrington, and Joanne Stahl.
Graveside services for Jeanie are being planned for later this spring at Pleasant Bethel Cemetery near Arney, Indiana.
West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer, Indiana have been entrusted with the arrangements.
