Barbara Sheneman

Barbara (Youngen) Sheneman, 74, of Dover passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born on August 14, 1951 in Dover to the late Warner and Avanell (Stiffler) Youngen and married Russell Sheneman Jr. on September 6, 1970. The two celebrated their 50th anniversary before his passing in 2021.
She was a 1969 graduate of Garaway High School. She was a long time employee of the local food industry, where she worked at the Dairy Treat, Swiss Hat, and Beachy's Country Chalet, making many friends along the way. She was also an accomplished artist, know for her beautiful paintings of country scenes and still life. She enjoyed spending time with family, and her hobbies included cooking for others, decorating, crafting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a member of the Sugarcreek First United Church of Christ.
Surviving are her sons, Rocky (Stephanie) Sheneman of Manhatten, Illinois, Bryan (Crystal) Sheneman of Dover, OH; granddaughters Deanna (Andrew) Sparks, Katelyn (Dakota) Eble, Ashley (Cody) Langenfeld and Courtney Sheneman (fiance` Derek Firth); grandson, Brandon Sheneman; two great grandsons, Christopher Langenfeld and Braden Sparks, and another great grandchild who is on the way. Also surviving are her sisters, Waneta (Gary) Schlegel and Loretta (Richard) West; brother and sister-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Earl Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home prior to services.
