Ronald Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith-Varns Funeral Home on Feb. 27, 2026.
Ronald "Ronnie" Dean Miller, 62, of Sugarcreek passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 26 at Summa Health in Akron.

He was born in Millersburg on January 14, 1964, to the late Freeman L. and Anna L. (Keim) Miller.

He is survived by his brothers Ray (Jolene) Miller of Walnut Creek, Marlin (Paula) Miller of Sugarcreek, Gary (Christine) Miller of Baltic, and Michael (Lora Frisone) Miller of Waynesburg; 10 nieces and nephews, Ty (Wilma) Mullet, Angela (Aaron) Yoder, Joel Miller, James Miller, Tyler (Stephanie) Miller, Jessie (Tylo) Miller, Brooke Miller, Erika Miller, Jocelyn (Joe) Linser, and Katrina (fiancé Dylan Hershberger) Miller; four great nephews; and many Miller and Keim aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ronnie was a living miracle. When he was 14, he sustained traumatic injuries in a drowning accident. The prognosis was not good, but by the grace of God, the healing hand of Jesus, and some fierce determination on Ronnie's part, he not only survived, but he talked and walked again, fed and dressed himself, and even learned to swim again. His life was touched by God in a miraculous way, and all who knew him were blessed by his friendly, fun personality.

Ronnie was deeply loved by his family and was a friend to everyone he met. He always had a smile on his face, and he enjoyed life. Ronnie's sense of humor was unparalleled. He had the gift of bringing joy and a smile to everyone's face. He knew how to be ornery, but he had the biggest heart.

When he was younger, he had a newspaper route in Baltic for four years.

Ronnie was a graduate of Starlight School. He made many friends over the years at Starlight, Lynn Hope Industries, and Advocates for Success. He was a member of Berlin Christian Fellowship.

He enjoyed coloring, putting together puzzles, playing UNO, and watching television, especially Walker Texas Ranger, Scooby Doo, Home Improvement, and a variety of other sitcoms.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Berlin Christian Fellowship with Pastor Nathan Madison officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek. Friends may call Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 at Berlin Christian Fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Advocates for Success, 638 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663. Contributions will be used to bless the lives of other developmentally disabled adults with expanded programming, special events, and extra support.
