MT. MORRIS, IL ~ Barbara J. Skibinski, 83, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, IL, on Monday, January 6, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1941, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John & Adeline (Herman) Stasiak. She graduated Luther High School South in 1959. Barbara married the love of her life, Henry Skibinski, on November 3, 1963, in Chicago, IL; it was the start of a long and wonderful life together. Her life was full of creativity and creation, she loved to craft, paint, draw, crochet and sew. She was a bible believing Christian and lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. Her Christian faith anchored and guided her entire life. Barbara was always active in her church congergations, serving as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher. She faithfully attended worship every week. Her love of singing led her to work with church choirs and forming her own choir. Family was always on her mind. She was a devoted mom of three and gramma of eight. She was always involved with and encouraged her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents John & Adeline, husband Henry, brother John “Jack” Stasiak and sister Muriel Zelmer. She is survived and missed dearly by her loving children Jeffery Skibins of Clayton, NC, Jennifer (Tim) Gutzwiller of Oswego, IL, Amysara (Rich) Tomlinson of Oregon, IL; sister Pam (Charles) Andersen of North Aurora, IL; sister-in-law Fern Stasiak of Tinley Park, IL; and grandchildren Alex, Abigail, Matthew, Grace, Faith, Ethan, Zoe, and Alice.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Mt. Morris, IL, between the hours of 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. A funeral service in her honor will follow the visitation being at 12:00 PM with Pastor Josh Erhler presiding at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Barbara will be laid to rest privately at Elmwood Cemetery of Manteno, IL, alongside her husband Henry. Memorials are established in her name and may be directed to Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, IL, or Trinity Lutheran Church of Mt. Morris, IL.
