Barbara Delores Sparco of Wakefield, formerly of Somerville and the West End Boston, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday February 27th surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born in Boston on September 1, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther (Dellelo) Reska.

Barbara was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School.  She worked briefly for the telephone company and then became a homemaker who provided love, care and support to her family for over 60 years.  Barbara was an outstanding cook and her home cooked holiday meals that she made year after year was the family tradition she enjoyed the most.

Barbara enjoyed sharing stories with friends and family and would take the time to listen whenever we needed to talk.  She was an avid film buff that watched all the old movie classics several times and could tell you everything about the lives of the classic actors and actresses.

She was the rock of our family.  The love, food, care and support she provided to her family will forever be greatly missed.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Frank Sparco for 62 years.  She was the adoring mother of Donna Sartell and her husband David of Wakefield, Peter Sparco and his wife Ronaine of Stoneham, and Joanne Calandra and her husband Frank of Wakefield. She was the sister of James Reska (late) and his wife Chrissy of St. Augustine, FL and Stephen Reska and his wife Joanne of Billerica.  Barbara was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren:  Dayna Connolly, John Sartell, Francis Sparco, Jonathan Sparco, Stephen Calandra and Nicole Calandra.  She was the proud great grandmother of Charlie Sartell.

Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Tuesday March 5 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday March 4 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment, St. Michaels Cemetery, 500 Canterbury St, Boston.

She was loved very much and will be missed beyond measure.
