Catherine Sparco Obituary
Wilmington - Catherine L. (Paoli) Sparco, 87, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully returned home to be with our Lord with family at her side on Friday, August 6, 2021. Born in Wilmington on July 5, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Guiseppe and Esther (Cataldi) Paoli.
Catherine was a graduate of Wilmington High School and attended Goldey-Beacom College. Always a hardworking and driven person, she worked for her uncle's insurance business while attending school and became employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield after graduating. Catherine then assisted her brother in his business, Dom's Deli, before establishing her own successful business, Cathy's Italian Village. Her career path led her to DuPont, where she worked in accounting, and lastly, she enjoyed her time at Preferred Electric, Inc.
Throughout her life, Catherine spread love, kindness and compassion. She had a heart of gold, was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She joins her beloved husband of 38 years, Anthony J. Sparco, Sr., who passed away on March 18, 1996.
Catherine will be dearly missed by her family: her sons, Anthony J., Jr. (Allison), Michael (Cheryl), Louis (Tina), Joseph (Sheri), John (Cindy); her eleven grandchildren and great grandson; her brothers, Joseph Paoli (Nikki) and Anthony Paoli (Gini); her twin sisters, Mary Ann Catalina (Sonny) and Rosemary McBride (Benny); her sisters-in-law, Dolly and Dorie Paoli; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Dominick (Lee), Alfred, Eugene, and Nello (Ann) Paoli.
Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th & DuPont Streets, Wilmington on Friday, August 13 from 9:30-11:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM, immediately followed by entombment in Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Catherine may be made to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713 (www.seasons.org). The family is grateful to the staff of Seasons Hospice for the excellent care given to Catherine.
