Barbara M. Springer

Lifelong Tribes Hill resident Barbara M. Springer, 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at The Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility with her loving family by her side.
Barbara was born on September 10, 1945, in Gloversville, NY to the late Joseph and Mary (Miller) Lais. She was raised in Tribes Hill and graduated from Fonda Fultonville Central School District. Afterwards, she attended the Amsterdam School of Business. Barbara spent the next 12 years as a homemaker, raising her children and caring for her family. She began working as a senior account clerk for Fonda Fultonville Schools, and eventually worked her way up to treasurer, where she was employed for 27 years until her retirement in 2007.
Barbara was married to the love of her life George P. Springer on her 21st birthday on September 10, 1966. They shared over 50 years of joyful bliss and a beautiful life together before her passing.
Barbara loved nothing more than traveling with her family. Her favorite place to visit was the beach, where she would walk the shoreline, collect seashells, and enjoy the peacefulness it brought her. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandson and would take any opportunity to spend time with them. Barbara was of Catholic faith and was the Rosary Society President at Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill for 12 years.
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph Gordon Lais and Mary E. (Miller) Lais.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband George P. Springer; son Philip D. Springer; daughter Nannette G. Springer; sisters Cheryl L. Brownell and MaryJo Lais; grandchildren Vanessa Springer, Nicholas Springer, Cheyanne Springer, and Brielle Morgan; great grandson Colt Springer; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 12pm to 1pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A service of remembrance will be held at 1pm with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V officiating. A private burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
