Barbara June Steen

Barbara J Steen, 98, formerly of Cheyenne, died on February 14th, Valentines' Day, in Fort Collins. Born August 10, 1925 on a farm near Waverly, Colorado to Robert and Pauline (Smith) Bird. She attended schools in Waverly and Cheyenne, and graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1943. She met Dale Steen in 1946 and married in 1947. She was an office administrator for Equitable Life Assurance of New York, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and volunteered with Wyoming Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, Garry W Steen of Fort Collins, and a daughter, Marla Kay Moore of Cheyenne, grandson Brian Steen (Liza Fate), granddaughter Kari Flores (Phil), Erin Anderson (Bobby), Eric Maxfield, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, sister Norma Kowalke, and her parents. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family may contribute to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or a charity of their choice.
