Mrs. Barbara E. Stegmeier

Mrs. Barbara E. (Zeigler) Stegmeier, 77, of Tamaqua, passed away on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Robert F. Stegmeier.

Born on Monday, May 31, 1948, in Andreas, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Beatrice (Hartung) Zeigler.

A 1966 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Barb has continued to own and operate Panther Valley Carriers in conjunction with P.V.C. Sales & Service, a family business she and her late husband have owned for over 44 years.

Barb was a member of West Penn Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She and Bob enjoyed traveling and camping. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Barb has been associated with Christ Evangelical Free Church, Lehighton, for many years.

Surviving are a sister Joyce, wife of Robert Knepper; a brother, Larry Zeigler; a sister-in-law, Helene Zeigler; a brother-in-law, Lamar Leiby; a nephew, Bryan Miller, and his wife, Sharon; nieces, Shelly, wife of Todd Heisler, Ashley, wife of Tom Rodgers, and Naomi, wife of Jerimiah Means; and many great- and great-great- nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by two sisters, Joan N. Miller and Doris E. Leiby; and a brother, Ronald W. Zeigler.

Services: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2066 W. Penn Pike, New Ringgold. A celebration of Barb's life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the funeral home. Friends and family may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
