Barbara Jean Suttorp, 88, of New Era, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 21, 2026, after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on December 1, 1937, in Hart, Michigan, to Earl and Marie (Borgers) Kokx.
Barb held many jobs throughout her life, but the role she treasured most was being a mom, raising her children and creating a loving home.
On October 4, 1958, Barb married the love of her life, Robert Suttorp. Their remarkable sixty seven year marriage reflected the strength of their commitment and the quiet, dependable partnership they shared throughout their lives. Robert survives her.
She is also survived by her children: David (Lucy) Suttorp, Cheryl (Richard) Anderson, and Brenda (Mark) Pavlak; and her brother Jerome Kokx; along with many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Marie Kokx; her siblings Jerry, Victor, Carl, and Jennet.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
