Barbara Ann Tunny

Tunny, Barbara Ann ALBANY Barbara Ann Tunny, 79, entered into eternal life on Friday, August 5, 2022, at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Isabel H. Stilwell Palmer. Barbara Ann graduated from Albany High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School. She began a long career at N.Y. Telephone Company starting as a switchboard operator, and working her way up to drafter. She later spent 20 years working at Albany Medical Center South Campus (formerly Childs Hospital and Nursing Home). Barbara Ann was a union representative with AFL-CIO, and also a founding member of Capital Communications Federal Credit Union. She was a Girl Scout leader, and had been active in fundraising for Vincentian Institute Grade School. Barbara Ann enjoyed crafts, ceramics, baking, cooking, reading, Irish music and festivals, traveling, and casinos. She will also be remembered as a notoriously devoted fan of Trisha Yearwood. She was the wife for 51 years of Gerald W. Tunny; dear mother of Karen L. Lambert (Jason) and Michael P. Tunny (Praise); cherished grandmother of Claire, Stella, and Jack; sister of John D. Palmer and the late William J. Palmer; and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Barbara Ann's family on Monday, August 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Funeral services on Tuesday, August 9, at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave. (Father John Bradley Way) Albany. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, immediately following the Mass.
