Barbara Crouch VanDoren, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 1, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from Dearborn High School in 1959.
Barbara began her professional journey as a loan officer with Guaranty Bank & Trust Company before joining the Department of Defense as a Contract Specialist. Through hard work, intelligence, and dedication, she rose to the GS13 level, retiring after 30 years of distinguished service.
Beyond her career, Barbara lived life with creativity, warmth, and zest. She had a passion for crafting, country western dancing, traveling, and reading. One of her greatest joys came from being part of a traveling country western dance group, where she found friendship and fulfillment through music and movement. Her natural eye for design and beauty extended into everything she touched—her home, her wardrobe, and her jewelry. Her remarkable decorating talents even caught the attention of the Army Base General’s spouses, who often sought her help to adorn their homes and holiday trees. Barbara took great joy and pride in bringing color, sparkle, and life into every space she decorated.
Barbara is survived by her loving sister, Jeanne Crouch Bachus; her brother, Richard Crouch; her nephew, Chris Bachus; her devoted daughter, Victoria Van Bower (Jimmy); and her cherished grandson, Tristan Gregory Hill, who was so very special to her. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Barbara’s legacy of love, strength, creativity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
