Barbara Jean Kelin Walker passed away September 9, 2021 at Legacy House--Sugar House Utah.

Barbara was born November 3, 1941, in Chickasha, Oklahoma--her parents were Charles Vernon (Sandy) Kelin and Ruby Joyce Burton. She had five brothers and sisters. She was the youngest growing up--(two of the children died as infants).

She spent most of her childhood in Prague, Oklahoma. Her early childhood was spent on the family farm and attending church and school. Barbara was the Valedictorian of her high school class and was offered a college scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University.

She married Joseph Ralph Walker "JR" July 23, 1960. They snuck away and eloped to Elko Nevada! Barbara and JR started their new life together in Layton, Utah. Through-out her life she lived in many different places...California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Montana--Idaho and Utah!

Barbara loved the beauty of the outdoors--she loved animals in particular dogs and birds. She was a gifted cook; she made the best pies! . For many years she loved to paint--she had an eye for decorating and always had a home warm and inviting.

Barbara worked for the Social Security Administration for 30 years....her job brought a lot of recognition and satisfaction. She made many friends over the years!

Barbara loved her family--her greatest adventures were with JR and her kids. She loved to go on long-drives and explore the countryside! In her later life she had the opportunity to travel to many foreign countries and her favorite adventure was traveling to Florence Italy!

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents--her husband JR died December 17, 2010. Her brother's Jack and Vernon Kelin. And her sister Marie Kelin.

She is survived by her children: Shelley and Monte Bloemke (Vancouver WA), Jana Walker (Salt Lake City UT), Adam Walker (Orlando FL). Grandchildren-- Ryan and Sydney Bloemke (North Ogden UT), Shane and Lynsey Bloemke (Battle Ground WA) and Brennan and Allison Bloemke (Vancouver WA) . She has two great grandchildren she was never able to meet due to Covid and Alzheimer's- she loved them dearly! Griffin Bloemke (2 years old) and Halen Bloemke (3 months).

As a family we would like to thank "Legacy House"--Sugar House UT and Bristol Hospice. The many friends at Legacy made Mom feel loved and needed! Thank-you so much!!

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Rd., Kaysville, Utah
