Barbara Peavy Waller, lovingly known by her siblings as "Baby Sue," passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by her family. Born June 28, 1941, in Johnson County, Georgia, she was the daughter of Herschel and Maefield Hammock Peavy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Nettie Peavy Sammons, Elbert Peavy, Dewey Peavy, Coleman Peavy, Dan Peavy, Harold Peavy and her husband Russell Waller.
She grew up in East Dublin, attended East Laurens School, and proudly served as captain of the cheerleading team, graduating in 1959. After high school, she attended college and worked at Southern Bell.
On November 24, 1961, Barbara married the love of her life, Russell Waller, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.
A gifted teacher and nurturer, Barbara devoted 16 years to Brown Memorial Baptist Church Preschool, where she had the joy of teaching both her own daughter and her older grandson. She later worked for many years at the Wrightsville Headlight, then with Internal Medicine and Dublin Internal Medicine, always bringing kindness and dedication to her work.
Barbara's talents extended far beyond her professional life. She was renowned for her creativity, from catering special events to preparing gourmet meals for her loved ones. In her spare time, she delighted in tending her garden and harvesting an abundant crop of blueberries, sharing the bounty with family and friends. Her famous biscuits and cheesecakes will remain treasured memories for all who gathered at her table.
Barbara is survived by her beloved children, Tracy and Kay Waller, Stacy and Tammy Waller, and Keith and Angie W. Johnson; grandchildren Mack and Carmen Waller, Matthew and Leah Waller, Michael Waller, Morgan Waller, Cam Waller, Zach and Bailey Johnson, Parker Johnson, and Lauren Grace Carr; nine great-grandchildren, with one more soon to arrive; as well as many extended family member and dear friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Georgia Hospice, Nightingale, Always Caring, and the many special sitters who showed such love and care to Barbara and her family through the years.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Brown Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pringle, Georgia.
Pallbearers will be Mack Waller, Matthew Waller, Michael Waller, Zach Johnson, Parker Johnson, and Cam Waller.
Barbara's love, warmth, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
