WARD, Barbara F. (Baxter). Entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on August 14, 2012. Beloved wife of Joseph G. Ward, Jr. Loving mother of Joseph G. Ward, III of Boston, Brendan B. Ward of Chestnut Hill and James J. Ward of Boston. Devoted daughter of the late James J. and Mary S. "Sally" (Gardner) Baxter. Dear sister of Anne K. Baxter of Boulder City, NV., John J. Baxter and wife Barbara of West Roxbury, Sally Connors and husband Paul of Canton and the late Ronnie Baxter Smith. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., BROOKLINE Saturday morning at 9:10 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Lawrence Church, Chestnut Hill at 10:00. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 8. Interment Walnut Hills Cemetery. Retired Teacher Boston Public Schools where she taught for 34 years primarily at The English High School and the Ohrenberger Elementary School in West Roxbury. As a standout athlete Barbara was inducted into The English High Hall of Fame in 2000, the Brookline High School Athletic Hall of Fame 2003 and the New England Women's Hall of Fame 2010. She was well known in Brookline and Boston for mentoring of young athletes, and she was a coach to many champions.
